Day One of my blog - Good Morning

I decided to start a blog to help with the stress of living with my 93 year old Father-in-Law. Up until the first of this year it had been a breeze.  He was and is physically healthy.  How many 93 year olds do you know that take a daily vitamin as their only drug?  His problem now is he is forgetful, he has dreams and thinks the dreams are real, and he is hot; he is cold and insists it is the house not him.  Of course, my husband and I are comfortable at 71 degrees.

Yesterday, on my way to the gym, Dad stopped me and said we needed to do something about the heat in his room - it was burning his arms.  This is an on going thing.  We have central heat and air and he insists that the air in his room at night burns him.  Of course, during the day the air is fine.  I snapped yesterday and a was snippy with him and then left for the gym.  I apologized when I got home and told him maybe we could change his furniture around and see if that would help.

He got really dramatic when Dan, my husband came home from work.  He came out of his room with his heavy coat, gloves, and a hat with the hood of his coat pulled over his head.  He told us it was freezing in the house and we better bundle up.  It was 71 degrees.  We ate and Dan and I left for the gym (I do cardio in the morning and weights at night).  When we got home he was in a short sleeve t-shirt; still 71 degrees in the house.

This is a day in our lives Living with My Father-in-Law.  I usually bend the ear of my daughter or my sister, but then I thought that we are probably not the only ones dealing an older parent.  I am hoping this blog with be a stress releasing project.  That's all for now.  We will see what today brings.
